I managed to unbind the HID interfaces as follows (I found the right addresses using command-line completion and a grovel through /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usbhid): echo 4-2:1.3 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usbhid/unbind echo 4-3:1.3 > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usbhid/unbind But alas, I still get the "not enough bandwidth" error. But this got me thinking. If we're talking about such marginal tolerances... I spent some time shuffling devices around the external USB connectors, and eventally found a pair that reliably power both CM106 USB sound cards. So now I have a virtual 12 channel device. Thank you so much for your support, both for the last problem I had (typo in asound.conf) and this time. If you're interested in video of the art project once it's done (in May), drop me private mail. :-) Ciao, Sheldon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites.
