I have one of these as well and have successfully used it, at least for 
4-channel recordings under ubuntu 12.04.
I believe all controls it has are on the actual front panel, and there 
should hence be no software controls in the driver. Should the need 
arise to have some volume controls, the usual middle layers pulse or 
jack should do the trick, or hack a Soft Volume plug in your asoundc file.
