Just be polite, please.  If there is a convention for in-line replies or
bottom-posting on a list, please follow it.

On the ALSA list the convention is for people to quote the bit they are
replying to and put replies at the bottom of the section they are
replying to.    It's only polite to fit in nicely.

That's an interesting point of view.    It's also a little surprising:
all the high-traffic lists I'm on are vociferously against top-posting
for exactly the reasons that you appear to like it.

Please just be nice to everyone and fit in with common practise on the
list you're replying to.
