If I am dealing with a particular thread I can remember the flow so that I don't need to re-read the previous discourses in order to understand the flow. I read the latest top post and action anything that's necessary then carry on reading other posts and other lists otherwise I'd never get through the vast amount of emails I receive each day where thankfully most of the lists do top posting.
