Hello, This is my first post to this list, and I'm writing this because I have a problem with the M-Audio audiophile 2496 that I just bought. It simply does not work. Here's the output of dmesg : Nov 30 00:37:23 kiss kernel: [ 98.708420] ICE1712 0000:06:01.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 Nov 30 00:37:24 kiss kernel: [ 98.846422] invalid EEPROM (size = 255) Nov 30 00:37:24 kiss kernel: [ 98.846438] ICE1712 0000:06:01.0: PCI INT A disabled Nov 30 00:37:24 kiss kernel: [ 98.846451] ICE1712: probe of 0000:06:01.0 failed with error -5 Apparently, this sound card is not compatible with my motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3. I found a post to a mailing list of someone complaining of that problem too, but I don't have the link right now. My system is a Ubuntu 11.10 32-bits, although the processor is a 64-bit i5 2300K. I tested with a 64-bit Ubuntu, though, but it still does not work. I tested the sound card on my old PC, and it seems to work just fine, I can change its settings with alsamixer. I searched over the net, but my problem seems to be a not-so-frequent one... Almost every problem concerning this sound card is about kernel modules improperly loaded, or with incorrect model. It seems that the Z68 chipset does not include PCI ports anymore, and that the motherboard uses some kind of PCI-to-PCI-express bridge in order to propose PCI ports. Unfortunately, these ports seem to work with some peripherals, like my D-link Wi-Fi card, but not the M-Audio. Does anyone have any clues about this problem? I already spent three days trying every possible solution, and I'm about to return the sound card, but before that I wanted to check with you for similar experiences. I tried checking BIOS options, but I didn't find anything useful there. Thank you very much.
