Driver: No 8bit DMA enabled - what's wrong?

I'm trying to use the snd-cs5530 driver, but the driver loading is failing with error message "No 8bit DMA enabled". I don't have a clue, what's wrong, so I don't know where to start my investigations. I simply don't understand the message at all. Maybe I need to recompile the kernel with some other options to make it "8bit DMA enabled"...

Any help or explanation of the problem is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jiri
