I am running an ICE1724 MAudio 24192. It work just fine with JACK and
the ICE-1724 driver. 192 kHz can be an overkill, but the plus of the
24192 for me is its balanced/unbalanced 6.3 mm. jack ins/outs.
Otherwise, those 2 cards are very similar from the outside.

Alsamixer will give you only a PCM mixer. The other controls are
switches and enums for routing. That imply than JACK is a must with such
a card for its software mixing capabilities. An external hardware mixer
can also be a plus, or will be needed if you want to plug in a MIC. The
ins/outs have line levels higher than most (if not all) consumer grade
audio equipements.

Both are very nice cards for the price and they are working very well
with JACK and ALSA. I don't tested the s/pdif parts, but according to
the ALSA site, it look like to be relatively easy to make them to work.
