Need help getting Edirol SD-90 (USB) working

The Edirol SD-90 is on the ALSA compatibility list, but I'm having trouble getting mine working under Ubuntu Studio 9.10. I think that my configuration is simply incomplete and the solution is probably something very basic, but I have no experience in this area and am having trouble making sense of the information at http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Module-usb-audio.

My output from the ALSA Information Script is at http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=7c8f52674140e2512c5095ff2c03e2f258280819. As you can see, the device is recognized by ALSA, but does not show up as a playback or capture device.

I would be very grateful for any help you can offer. I'm eager to switch from Windows XP to Ubuntu for the great open-source audio and video editing apps that are available.
