USB card question

Hi all,

today i start playing with ALSA to accomplished a task but i don't if
it's the right way.
My notebook has an internal card (snd_hda_intel) and optional i've got
a pair of USB
speakers with internal card (handled by snd_usb_audio); i'm wondering
if there's a
way (probably via $HOME/.asoundrc) to manage these cards in order to have the
internal one as default (card 0) and qhen i plug the USB speakers, make them
the default choice (eg., i'm watching an Internet flash movie and when
i plug the
USB speakers route the sound from the internal card to them, without quitting
the current application)?
Besides that is it possible to transfer the mixer controls too?

Thanks a lot! :-)
