Sound too loud on USB headset

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello, all;

I have a USB headset. The sound from it is very loud -- under lowest
volume it is off, and the next step up it is already uncomfortably
loud. As you can imagine, any higher the volume is simply ridiculous
(I can hear the headset on the table like speakers at 100%). Is there
any way to remedy this and have 0-100 give a reasonable range of
volumes?

Currently the headset is a Microsoft LiveChat LX 3000, but I
previously had a Logitech USB headset with the same problem. When I
run alsamixer, the only available devices are mic (slider), audio gain
(toggle -- it's off), and speaker (slider). The speaker slider is what
I have been messing with. 0 and 2 are off, 4 is uncomfortably quiet, 6
is uncomfortably loud. It goes up to 100.

Thanks for the advice!

Arren
