Why not# /etc/init.d/alsasound restart
> FATAL: Error inserting snd_hda_intel> (/lib/modules/2.6.18-128.1.6.el5/updates/snd-hda-intel.ko): Unknown> symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Look like it is a conflict between in-kernel alsa modules and modules fromalsa-driver. You cannot have both with the same kernel.
