I am willing to buy Xonar, question is, is it going to work properly? So far I can see it satisfies me, as long as it is not troublesome. I just want something that I can plug and play. I really don't mind wasting pcie slots, since i have couple of them available. And i dont plan to add any other devices to my pc so far.
That usb card appears to be quite interesting as well. I doubt it offers good hardware performance, doesnt it? I mean, it probably procees everything on cpu, than just outputs to usb card, using some standart USB sound driver? Like usb-audio.
Thanks, i appeciate your replies guys.

one rather cheap.
Or, another option, something Envy24/Envy24HT based.
But, if you lack PCI slots, it's going to be hard because it pretty
much limits your choice to Xonar.

If you are willing to go USB, this card might do it:

It works, but only analog. Digital is not supported and probably won't
be. It's also very cheap, less than $20.
