Please don't top post on this list.
I don't use skipe but maybe that the following can help you. I get problem withflash on firefox. After some time, the sound from flash was just gone. Thesolution was to use jack as sound server. 
Hope this can help. With that setting, I can have firefox running under days orweeks without any problem and flash is just doing fine. Another advantage isthat all the sound related programs will be using jack. For more details:http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/JACK#FirefoxNote that you will not need a rt kernel if you are not using a lot of softsynthesizers or audio filters.
