It appears to be a problem with the usb-audio driver. While the monitor is fairly new, it is a Dell monitor and from numerous postings on monitor reviews, is quite popular and well received although no one has been able the get the mics going in Linux and Dell unable to assist, including Ubuntu which they supposedly support (I'm running FC10). Hence I'd suggest that resolving will make many people happy now and in the future. I'm happy to assist as well.
