I didn't get any replies on this, so I gather USB audio has a small user 
group. Anyway, I have a second USB "standard" soundcard with the same 
problem.

I loaded the same two devices on Suse 10. That got a bit further. The 
error message is the usb sound module can't be loaded.

Both devices work under X64 without loading any drivers.
