That's probably where he got it from.  I often notice inaccurate attribution on the web for quotations.  So I'm just 
going with the flow.  ;-)

I forgot to mention last time that you could try looking in /var/log/messages as root to see if there are any messages 
printed during bootup explaining why the sound card wasn't recognized properly.
