Hrm.  So did you build 1.0.18a from scratch?  I buillt them from the
debian experimental packages and got the digital devices to show up,
but couldn't get sound through them.  Could you share the standard
test commands with us?

$ aplay -l

$ aplay -L

Do either of the above actually show HDMI?

$ cat /proc/asound/devices

$ ls /proc/asound/card*/codec#*

$ cat /proc/asound/card*/codec#*
