This was my experience as well. I tried (off and on) for six months to
get the E-MU to record under linux. I had to cave in and get an XP box
on which I'm running Nuendo. It's a dual-boot with ubuntu 8.04. I have
the dual-boot so that if I ever hear there is a proper driver for the
E-MU 1212M then I can boot to ubuntu and try recording. It kinda broke
my heart that I couldn't record my first client (a band that I'm
starting to record tomorrow) with linux.
