If that is your question, the answer is no. The hardware can only process one sound stream at a time (depending on the device). If it has multiple DACs it can process more than one, but alsa would already have defined that for you, so since you are asking I am assuming it has a single DAC for output. It seems you want to have different sound streams use the same card. You should be able to do what you want using either jack or pulseaudio. This doesn't provide you with independent streams, they are still related in time, so if they overlap you will hear both sounds at the same time. You could write an application that would isolate the separate sound streams and send them to the sound card in sequence to do what you want, with some delay when both users were using the sound card at the same time.
