Don't give up to soon, you are making progress, now it is complaining about the
number of channels, and that is correct, "-f dat" suggests 2 channels.

Look at "man arecord" for all the switches. Try using "-r 48000" ( in stead of
-f dat ). "-c 1" is not necessary. Maybe "-f S16_LE" ??

Alsa is supposed to work on all possible different hardware, so it is -very-
flexible...
