Hi! Recently, I have bought Terratec 5.1 USB card and I want to use it in my laptop (which has an internal ALI card). I try to use ".asound" file from this URL: http://alsa.opensrc.org/Terratec_Aureon_5.1_USB_MK.2 With this modifications: pcm.dmix51 { type dmix ipc_key 1024 ipc_key_add_uid false ipc_perm 0666 slave { pcm "hw:1,0" # Originally hw:0,0 channels 6 period_time 0 period_size 1024 buffer_size 8192 rate 44100 } } ctl.dmix51 { type hw card 1 # Originally 0 } ... rest of the file is exactly as it is But this is the result: $ amixer controls --card 1 numid=5,iface=MIXER,name='Master Playback Switch' numid=6,iface=MIXER,name='Master Playback Volume' numid=3,iface=MIXER,name='Line Playback Switch' numid=4,iface=MIXER,name='Line Playback Volume' numid=10,iface=MIXER,name='Line Capture Switch' numid=11,iface=MIXER,name='Line Capture Volume' numid=9,iface=MIXER,name='Mic Capture' numid=1,iface=MIXER,name='Mic Playback Switch' numid=2,iface=MIXER,name='Mic Playback Volume' numid=7,iface=MIXER,name='Mic Capture Switch' numid=8,iface=MIXER,name='Mic Capture Volume' numid=13,iface=MIXER,name='Capture Source' numid=12,iface=MIXER,name='IEC958 In Capture Switch' I read about softvol, but I don't know how to put softvol config with the actual .asoundrc. I try other solutions posted in this mail list, but they don't work for me. Thanks in advance. P.D.
