What switch would that be? Some configuration option in ALSA? If so,
how do I turn it off? I have not turned it on by intention.

Sorry if I implied that there was a bug. That was not my intention. My
intention is to seek for advise on how to the the sound properly
working. I've rather assumed a misconfiguration than a bug.

What about the system beep?
