Asus Lamborghini VX2 breakage with ALSA 1.0.15

Hello

After reinstalling Gutsy on my Asus VX2 laptop I found to my great frustration that the sound was dead. I proceeded to install the latest ALSA from source, but it didn't help. After reading various howtos however I found I could play with the module's "model" parameter. Based on the ALSA documentation for my codec (AD1986A), I set the model to "laptop", which resolved my issue ... Can you please fix this somehow (it used to work)?

Thanks,
Arve
