Yan, While I am not an expert, I do have a little experience with one USB sound device (SB). First, asoundconf does not support USB devices. Second, the USB devices are assigned their ID in the order they are seen. The first one plugged in will be the first one assigned either /dev/dspX (OSS) or plughw:X,Y (ALSA). You can find your USB SB with 'cat /proc/asound/cards' Mine shows: > $ cat /proc/asound/cards > 0 [A5451 ]: ALI5451 - ALI 5451 > ALI 5451 at 0x1400, irq 11 > 1 [Audio ]: USB-Audio - USB Audio > USB Audio at usb-0000:00:13.1-2, full speed Your two USB SB should be seen to ALSA as -Dplughw:1 and -Dplughw:2. The other SB on your MB should(?) be seen as -Dhw:0 or default. You can use aplay/arecord with the -L parm to get a display of your 'current' set up. > $ aplay -L > default:CARD=A5451 > ALI 5451, ALI 5451 > Default Audio Device > null > Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture) > default:CARD=Audio > USB Audio, USB Audio > Default Audio Device That should get you going? -- William Estrada MrUmunhum@xxxxxxxxxxx Mt-Umunhum-Wireless.net ( http://Mt-Umunhum-Wireless.net ) Ymessenger: MrUmunhum > Message: 2 > Date: Mon, 12 Nov 2007 09:23:35 -0800 > From: Yan Seiner <yan@xxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: usb audio - help with asoundrc > To: alsa-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Message-ID: <47388C17.5040905@xxxxxxxxxx> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed > > I have a multiseat box with 3 heads and 3 sound cards. > > One is on board: > > 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High > Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) > > two are usb: > > Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0d8c:0001 C-Media Electronics, Inc. > Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0d8c:0001 C-Media Electronics, Inc. > > asoundconf claims it doesn't see any, although the modules are installed.... > > athena:/proc/bus/usb# asoundconf list > Names of available sound cards: > athena:/proc/bus/usb# > > alsamixer sees each card, though. > > Currently, pcm0 is the intel card, and pcm1 and 2 are the usb cards. > However, due to the vagaries of udev, that's subject to change on the > next boot. > > Can anyone provide some suggestions for using a specific USB sound card? > > Thanks, > > --Yan > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
