Re: No sound for new system

Hi,

I encountered the same problem this week when installing Linux on a computer.
The frustrating part is that a few years ago I had the sound card
working with Linux.
I would like to add to Daniel's post that when loading the snd_via82xx
module outputs
something like:
codec_read: codec 0 is not valid
Which means that the driver could not read the codec (see:
linux/sound/pci/via82xx.c: snd_via82xx_codec_read_function).
I have tried with the kernel alsa modules, with the separate
alsa-drivers modules, older versions of alsa-drivers modules they all
have the same problem. Also I have un-muted all
existing channels but I still haven't been lucky. I have even tried
all the jacks (some posts
about this driver state that they have sound on the mic jack).

Any kind help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cristian
