Mixer problem with cmipci

Hi!

I bought a second sound card these days to play with some more
speakers, but I've got (most probably) mixer problems with it.

The card is branded "Terratec Aureon 5.1 PCI", lspci identifies it as

00:0b.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 (rev 10)

00:0b.0 0401: 13f6:0111 (rev 10)

I seem to not get correct sound output on the front and rear speakers.
Testing with "speaker-test -tsine -Dplug:surround51 -c6" and
unmodified default mixer settings, I only get output to Center and
LFE. (The speakers are okay, each of the three plugs was tested with
the soundblaster, which is also installed.)

Already fiddled a lot with the mixer elements, but I wasn't able to
make the front and back speakers work. Only muting/unmuting the
"IEC958 Outout" element seems to make a slight difference. When
unmuted, the speakers emit a slight noise, while they're totally
silent when this element is muted.

It would be nice if somebody could send me his/her amixer or `alsactl
store' output while speaker-test is working with all speakers :)

Thanks, JBG
