I have an LG T1 computer which I bought both because using MNCLinux both the sound and wireless worked and because it is (slightly) lighter than the normal 14 inch laptop.i It apparently uses the Realtek ALC880 chipset ( according to alsamixer). However it has an onboard microphone, which does not seem to work-- or at least I cannot make it work. I tried the default snd-hda-intel driver and it created sound . When I gave it the model=lg option I get a much noisier output, as if it is amplifying some input, and a click on loading the driver. But the front mic still does not work. Ie,using aplay -f cd >/tmp/test.wav and speaking into the microphone I get no sound out when I aplay /tmp/test.wav Now there are three input sliders, but no mute or switches on any of them, and seemingly no way of selecting which input one wants to use. They are all labeled Mic, but if I look at the text into when I select them, they are actually Mic 1 Mic 2 Mic 3 I have tried the latest alsa 1.0.14. Does anyone have a clue as to how to make the onboard microphone work? (NOte that I have not tried to use a plugin microphone yet). Thanks. -- William G.
