OK, finally got somewhere on this. Hunted down a Windows box (what a drag) and updated the firmware on my card from 150 to 152. The restore failed but a subsequent store and following restores worked fine (apparently there were some changes). 1.0.14 should be marked as needing firmware >150 (maybe it needs 152?).
