It is just at a hardware synth must be able to load andunload the sounds from the soundfont at least as fast as they must be changedduring the play. An USB bus don't have enough bandwidth to do that (even anaudigy 2 when used with huge soundfonts cannot do that correctly on the PCIbus) . It is why no one USB sound card on the market do have an hardware synth.
