Compiled in drivers from Kernel 2.6.20rc6 release

Hi,

This is a first post from me so hello to all,

1st

I have compiled in the kernel modules this time around, the sound card in question uses the snd-intel-hd driver.  Everything works perfectly except the external microphone, I have been a longtime user of Alsa and was quite surprised to see very few volume controls in alsamixer.

2nd

I normally prefer to build the kernel modules myself using the latest release tarballs but for some reason under 2.6.x the driver fails to build.  I have copied my 2.6.x include/linux and asm dirs to my /usr/include dir so that we are matching the running kernel release ( was required for the build of Xorg and Slackware only provides 2.4 includes ).

Other info that may help:

Platform:   Dell Inspiron 640m - Bios A08 ( A09 is available only fixes some dos hangup issues will probably upgrade to this as with Linux this might also be affected ).
OS:   Slackware 11 Base ( everything else built by hand )
   Kernel:   2.6.20rc6

Regards and Thanks in Advance
