Hi all. I got this sound card but I'm not able to make it work. The card gets detected by ALSA, I can open the mixer and everything seems perfectly normal. The only problem is that I can hear no sound. I tried to mute/unmute all channels and played with the volume levels so I really don't think it's a problem with my mixer settings. I tried ALSA 1.0.13 and 1.0.14rc2 and I got the same result in both cases. Regarding the kernel version, I'm using Linux 2.6.17.14 right now, but I also tried 2.6.19.2 and 2.6.20rc5 (and the ALSA driver included in these kernels). snip from lspci -nnv 00:1e.2 Multimedia audio controller [0401]: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller [8086:27de] (rev 01) Subsystem: Biostar Microtech Int'l Corp Unknown device [1565:8213] Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 20 I/O ports at f000 [size=256] I/O ports at fa00 [size=64] Memory at fdffe000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512] Memory at fdffd000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2 $ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: ICH7 [Intel ICH7], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel ICH7] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: ICH7 [Intel ICH7], device 4: Intel ICH - IEC958 [Intel ICH7 - IEC958] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 $ cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [ICH7 ]: ICH4 - Intel ICH7 Intel ICH7 with ALC655 at irq 20 This is the syslog output when I load the modules: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:1e.2[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 20 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1e.2 to 64 intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 51051 usecs intel8x0: clocking to 48000 And this is the mainboard in which the chip is integrated in case it helps: http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=I945G-M7%20v2.x If you need some other data just ask me.
