Yes it was. And your tips are most useful.

I even got my spdif-out working with it:
pcm.TP22spdif {
type plug
slave.pcm "hw:0,1"
}

When I used plughw:0,1 the signal was ok, but the recorder complained 'Cannot Copy'. The code above somehow solves that problem.
