RME DSP Multiface doesn't mount properly

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I've been using my RME DSP Multiface plugged in the computer through a pcmcia card

on 2 computers :
- laptop VIAO 716S
- desktop : asus AV8 Deluxe, X2 3800+.

on different distributions :
- Ubuntu
- 64Studio
- Studio-to-go

and have always meet the same issue : the card wouldn't mount twice in a row on a linux distribution.

My only solution so far has been to boot on Windows XP first and then reboot on Linux.
What I noticed is that  when I shut down on WIndows, the red 'Host error" led blinks when the multiface is unmounted. When I shut down on any linux distribution, the red led goes red and doesn't blink.
I can't then do anything about it (turn it off, unplug, turn it on, plug...) to change its status  but boot on Windows.

This is now my only reason to dual boot from Windows to Ubuntu , so I would appreciate very much to get some help on this. I don't know if it can be of any relevance, but here is the result of hdsploader in the console :

do@ubuntu:~$ hdsploader
hdsploader - firmware loader for RME Hammerfall DSP cards
Looking for HDSP + Multiface or Digiface cards :
Card 0 : VIA 8237 with ALC850 at 0xe800, irq 209
Card 1 : RME Hammerfall DSP at 0x8a000000, irq 169
Upload firmware for card hw:1
Unable to open file '/usr/share/alsa/firmware/hdsploader/multiface_firmware_rev11.bin' for reading
do@ubuntu:~$

Thanks,
