hello! i've installed a new gentoo system on my desktop pc. (gentoo 2006.1) then i tried to record something with arecord, but the soundquality is extremely bad. but recording with wavrec is at good quality, like i'm used to it. i don't know where to search for the mistake, i can't explain this crazy behavior from arecord. with jackd (and realtime-lsm) the recordings are also in a good quality. some informations on my system installed alsa-komponents: z421@winnie ~ $ equery list -i | grep alsa media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.11-r1 media-plugins/xmms-alsa-1.2.10-r2 media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.11 media-sound/alsa-tools-1.0.11 media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.11 z421@winnie ~ $ z421@winnie ~ $ uname -r 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 z421@winnie ~ $ all alsa-kernel-parts are installed as modules in the kernel. configuration i'd done with alsaconf. the problem is, that some other applications have also bad quality.
