Hi I've been having problems getting sound working before (as seen in issue 2072), but I managed to get around that issue, but doing a load-unload-load of the modules before using them. But after upgrading to linux kernel 2.6.18 and updating to the latest version from the hg repository, I cannot get the module to load at all. I get the following in my logs: Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 07400041 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] printing eip: Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] c0268bb4 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] *pde = 00000000 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] Modules linked in: snd_timer snd snd_page_alloc genrtc e1000 nfs lockd sunrpc jfs raid10 raid1 raid0 dm_mirror dm_mod ata_piix ahci lib ata sbp2 ohci1394 ieee1394 sl811_hcd ohci_hcd uhci_hcd usb_storage usbhid ehci_hcd usbcore Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] EIP: 0060:[<c0268bb4>] Tainted: GF VLI Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] EFLAGS: 00010202 (2.6.18blackhole #1) Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c0268570>] kobject_get+0x12/0x17 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c02ddee9>] class_device_get+0x13/0x18 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c02dd9bc>] class_device_add+0x66/0x2c4 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c0268303>] kobject_init+0x35/0x45 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c02ddc2b>] class_device_register+0x11/0x15 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c02ddca8>] class_device_create+0x79/0x91 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<f914f32e>] snd_register_device+0xcd/0xf0 [snd] Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<f8c32091>] alsa_timer_init+0x53/0x7a [snd_timer] Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c01372fe>] sys_init_module+0x8d/0x171 Sep 26 09:09:10 [kernel] [<c0102cbd>] sysenter_past_esp+0x56/0x79 any attempt to use sound will cause the process using it to freeze and not be killable.
