You're acting as the maintainer of this branch, so it's primarily your responsibility to make sure it works. That means you need to ensure that it is fully tested and that when bugs and problems are supported you respond to them, triage them and fix them. It doesn't matter if you intend to use the branch or not - you signed up to do this for the XFS users that were asking for it and that means you need to ensure the quality of the release is acceptible. Being a maintainer is more than being allowed to commit patches to a repository.
