intel driver not varying gamma?

Is there any way to apply pressure, or
get code written, or get information?

I have a nice company supplied laptop,
but I cannot alter the gamma, which leaves
the display less useful than it could be.

The Video card is an Intel 852, and according
to their support site the Linux driver doesn't "do" gamma.
The card *does*, under Windows.

AFAIK this family of cards is widely used.

Do I have any hope of ever seeing progress on this?
