SGI 1600SW flatscreen on Linux X, solution to fullscreen mode issues, i128 driver

I've found that the SGI 1600SW flatpanel LCD works great with SUSE Linux 10.0. I have a Number Nine Revolution IV-FP AGP video card (the direct digital connection). SUSE sets this up with the i128 driver in XFree86. It works great at 1600x1024, bright and beautiful. Note: if your screen has an offset, simply select the other driver entry (use "FLATPANEL-1600FP" not "FLATPANEL-1600SW").

However, I find that all "fullscreen" games destroy the X session: the LCD display fades, flashes and the power button starts flashing. Has anyone solved this? So far I've had luck disabling fullscreen in many applications (for example KDE starts "frozen-bubbles" as "frozen-bubbles --fullscreen". "enigma" can be started as "enigma --window". if you want full screen, the same applications work fine if started from a framebuffer console window).

Note: for the record, the official documentation and modelines for X on the SGI 1600SW can be found here: http://www.xfree86.org/4.5.0/I1284.html#4 and here http://www.sgi.com/products/legacy/1600sw_faq/os.html

You may also be interested in a adapter that lets you use any Linux supported DVI graphics card with the 1600SW, without the need for an expensive Multi-Link adapter: http://www.sharpertechnology.com/1600adapter.html . They will also replace aging backlights in the monitor.
