Since you said you see the nVidia logo, it sounds like you're using their binary driver, which will make it difficult for people other than nVidia to give you assistance. My guess would be that you have the wrong nVidia driver installed. If you want any more assistance from this list, you're going to at least give us some more information. What card are you using? What driver and version are you using? What version of XFree86 are you using? What OS/distribution?
