That sounds very familiar -- I installed Linux in my wife's Dell laptop over the Christmas vacation and I _think_ that's what was in it -- but I can't be sure until she gets home from her business trip tonight and gets the computer back on the network. If it is the same, I used a 1 to 1-1/2 year old RedHat 7.2 distribution and had absolutely no video problems of any sort. She has a Dell Inspiron 9100 but with an optional video card, not with the graphics integrated on the motherboard and the graphics performance is superb. It's not cheap but it's a very solid performer.
