I found the answer by myself by diffing my backup. Release is Mandrake 10. Mouse is logitech. It seems not working correctly when mouse is configured with wheel by mandrake tools. Setting it like below, without wheel support makes it works correctly in xfree. /etc/sysconfig/mouse MOUSETYPE=ps/2 XMOUSETYPE=PS/2 FULLNAME="PS/2|Standard" XEMU3=yes WHEEL=no device=psaux Now all wheel events are intercepted.
