I think 7.2 is too old for a T41.  You *may* be able to get a more recent driver from the graphics chip manufacturer (ATI?).  Thre may not be one available for something as old as 7.2, so you may have to compile the source and install it yourself.  My advice is NOT to use 7.2, but to use something more recent (and supported), like SuSE 9.x.
