Mark,

I installed 4.4.0 and its working great except that after logging in via the
"windows" interface, i recieve an Xclient as opposed to a gnome desktop.
Maybe when i said yes to overwrite config files, that messed me up?? Got
any ideas, please let me know. thanks very much

cole

   The binaries from XFree86:

ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.4.0/

don't really have an upgrade option. They do a complete install.
There might be other options available from your Linux distribution,
however. But I don't know much about those.
