making "splash" window (with no titlebar) too complicated in X11

Making a splash window with no titlebar, etc... is way too difficult in 
XWindows but this person tells how:

I don't want to use Widgets, this should be internal to X11 and basic 
like XSetWindowProperties(TITLEBAR| ....)
