Yes; without a specific modeline, all it can do is use the modelines already 
defined in the graphical device. Although they're not bad, they're usually 
not meant for running 120 Hz screens. :) Try:
http://xtiming.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/xtiming.pl
if you have trouble creating a proper modeline.
