I really Appreciate your help any ways. The problem really is that X is getting the correct mode of 1680x1050. And everything looks crystal clear without any gliches. The problem is that It will only do this when I give it a size I guess my screen can't handle more than x can't eg 1600x1050. then It works out the correct modelines and everything for me and everything looks great. But when I tell it to do 1680x1050 it goes on the blitz and doesnt want to work. My question then Is what is X doing when it works it out, that I'm not doing when I tell it manually?
Kind regards Warren Paul
Gee, that is a bit strange. Maybe using something like xdpyinfo (from memory - please use bash completion to find it) might tell you what mode it's really running in when it drops down and works.
I'm sure that if you knew what it was set to that you could set it that way as a default. I think the trick is finding all the right values.
Best of luck!
