Looks like a fairly simple configuration
error to me.
Use xf86config to select your mouse,
keyboard, monitor and graphics adaptor and setup your preferred screen
resolution and colour depth.
If in doubt about your graphics adaptor
(and before trying any other drivers) use the VESA driver to start with.
This will make sure your system can
actually get X running before trying to use the drivers for your actual display
driver card.
