Hi. I bought a Radeon 9200 to improve the overall performance on X, but so far I'm quite disappointed. First despite the activated DRI I only get 235 FPS out of glxgears, which is even slower as with my previous Voodoo4500 which got up to 300+ FPS. It's weird, that when the number of polygons increase the performance decreases (more than expected). Best example is menger from XScreensaver. The third iteration let the display crawl and most of the workload is on system according to top and xosview. Could the reason for that, that I have a PCI and not an AGP interface? Nevertheles I doubt that, since the 50+ MB/s are easily handled which I create with my SCSI harddisks. It's also strange that the PCI scan seem to detect two chipsets. Upon request I could offer the complete log and config. The system is an alpha (PWS500au) with Debian testing (sarge).
