need help w/ resolution issue, logs inside

Hello,

My issue is that when X starts, my resolution is very small (making everything look very big). Also, despite the fact that I have "virtual screen bigger than actual screen" turned off, it is on, likely because X is defaulting to some minimal setting.

I am using ATI Radeon VE QY (which I believe is a radeon 7000)

I am using a gateway 2000 vivtron 17" monitor.

I am using XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1
