XFree86 4.3.0, r128_drv.o unresolved symbols

Hi,

There was a power cut this morning (actually my father fused the electrics
trying to rescuse a piece of toast from the toaster with a metal fork, but
that's besides the point). When I brought my Slackware 9.0 machine back up
(having fsck'd), X refuses to start:

My graphics card is an ATI rage 128; i tried reinstalling XFree both from 
Slackware packages and also from source .. no joy
